Orthodontics for Children

Several aspects of Orthodontics set us apart from others when it comes to children's orthodontics. One is our standard of care - we listen to our patients and we treat each patient as if they were our own child, and indeed many dentists within the area send their children to us for treatment.

We are able to advise young people and their parents on the need for orthodontic treatment. If treatment is advisable, guidance is given on treatment options and on the timing for treatment.

We believe that early treatment is beneficial in some circumstances, and many patients are pleasantly surprised to find their treatment can be carried out at an earlier age. Early treatment can often prevent the need for tooth removal - over 50% of our patients complete their treatment without the need for extractions.

Where indicated, Functional appliances are used to harness the growth of the jaws and improve way the upper and lower teeth meet. There are several designs all of which fit on to both the upper and lower teeth and hold the lower jaw forward. They are mostly removable but should be worn as near to full-time as possible.

Orthodontics provides a comprehensive orthodontic treatment service using techniques that have been clinically and scientifically evaluated. We create an informal and fun atmosphere for our young patients that helps to keep them sufficiently motivated to care for their teeth and appliances properly at home.

All of the appliance types described below are available to younger patients

Orthodontics for Adults

Many people have crooked and/or crowded teeth, which can affect the way they look and the way their teeth bite together. It can also make it more difficult to keep them clean, which can put them at greater risk of tooth decay or gum disease. Research clearly shows that straightening people's teeth improves their self confidence.
